This treatment is a conservative restorative option that in many cases is an alternative to a full crown preparation because it only involves the affected part of the tooth without sacrificing healthy tooth structure. It only requires .3 to .9 millimeters of tooth reduction on the facial surface of the tooth and in some specific cases reduction might not be necessary (lumineers). These types of restorations can be fabricated in porcelain or composite and require a specialized dental laboratory.
